About Equine Chiropractic
I started doing Equine Chiropractic as favor to a friend, 22 years ago. Joan Casoroso’s regular equine chiropractor was out of town, and she asked me to work on one of her horses. After some research, it became apparent that the spinal anatomy of horses was like humans—but on all fours. The initial experience was a success, and Joan strongly suggested that I take a course in Meridian Therapy, Touch For Health.

This was the first course that gave me insight into the energy systems of the body. Since then, I have developed a testing system for chiropractic based on the meridians (acupuncture system), FACTS (Fun and Accurate Chiropractic Testing System) and PINTS (Priestman’s Incomparable Nutritional Therapy System). Since the meridian system is much the same for horses, dogs and humans my testing methods translate well from one species to another.

Equine and Canine Chiropractic, Nutrition and Laser Therapy Services
Dr. Priestman offers chiropractic with adjunctive laser therapy for horses and dogs. Nutrition therapy, for optimal wellness and health, is also available.

Dr. Priestman has a long history of association with and riding horses. He has taken the American Veterinary Chiropractic Association Animal Chiropractic Course and was married for eight years to an equine veterinarian.

Chiropractic Helps Sell Horse, Needed Only Short-Term
I had my horse, Pete, for sale. He was an 8 year old off-the-track thoroughbred in the process of being re-trained. A friend came to look at him and told me he was 'off'. I didn't believe it at first because I couldn't tell.

So I talked to my vet, who recommended trying Dr. Priestman. He adjusted Pete once and determined the problem. We worked out a schedule to get him back in place.

I started riding him a few days a week and it was amazing how fast Pete learned once he wasn't in pain anymore! I mean, he always had a lot of 'try' but this was different, he was doing the maneuvers and remembering them.

After 2 months, Pete, was leased out, and doing great! Pete has since been sold and hasn’t needed any further treatment. Dr. Priestman explained to me that once the joints and bones are in the right spot, and you work the horse, the muscle will form correctly around that joint to help keep it good.

I recommend these services for anyone that has a horse that is 'off,' cinchy, drags its toes, or someone that is riding their horse a lot. Since my experience with Pete, I now have the chiropractor out whenever a horse in my barn has any problem.

Chiropractic Adjustments Can Solve Host of Horse Maladies
I believe all creatures, like people, need period chiropractic adjustments. I recommend chiropractic care whenever am owner says their horse is cranky, achy, acting up, has a sore back or irregular gait.

Dr. Priestman treated my horse, Dudley, for back and neck issues. I’d rate his abilities as a 10 on a scale from 1-10—Dudley’s issues have totally resolved through treatment.

Dr. Priestman's Treatment Effective, Kind
Several months ago my horse was having difficulty holding her lead in back when doing collected canter to the left.  She would swap leads after about a circle and a half.  She didn't seem lame and I couldn't find anything visibly wrong with her. A friend suggested chiropractic care.

I called Dr. Priestman who was able to give me an appointment just a couple days later. He evaluated her and, after using cold laser on her lower back, he adjusted her. The improvement was immediate. She had less trouble holding her lead and also seemed more flexible to the left than she ever was before.

Dr. Priestman treated her twice, each time a week apart, at which point he declared her good to go. We’ve have had no more problems since then but if we do I would not hesitate to call Dr. Priestman again.

I very much appreciated his manner with my horse and also the time he took explaining to me and showing me exactly what the problem was and what he was doing to correct it.
